  • Low-Waste RO Systems

Saving Water: A Resource That Has Become Essential

    Filtering effectively while reducing wastewater

In the face of climate change and the growing scarcity of drinking water resources, it is increasingly important to consume more responsibly.

With this in mind, we have selected low-waste RO systems, designed to combine filtration quality with water savings.

Why does an RO system discharge water?

An RO water system uses a reverse osmosis membrane to retain the impurities present in the water.

Some of the water is then used to flush out these contaminants. This is known as the rejection ratio.

Example: a ratio of 2:1 means that 2 liters of water are discharged to produce 1 liter of RO water.

    Typical ranges

    • Entry-level: up to 3:1, or even more if the pressure is low
    • Standard models: about 2:1
    • High-performance models: as low as 0.5:1

    High-performing, water-saving RO systems

As little as 0.5 liter discharged per liter produced

    With tank

    Pure Balance

The Pure Balance offers a ratio of 1:1, a very good result for a compact tank-based RO system.

    Direct flow

    Robustos and Optimos

Robustos and Optimos also reach a ratio of 1:1.

    Very low wastewater

    Black Beast

The Black Beast RO system achieves particularly high efficiency: only 0.5 liter discharged per 1 liter produced.

Ideal if: you want a high-performing RO system while greatly limiting the water consumed as wastewater.

Why choose a low-waste RO system?

    • Less water waste
    • Limited environmental impact
    • Savings on water consumption

    Overview of industrial RO systems

  • Seawater Desalination Systems

Choosing the Right Seawater Desalination System

A desalinator is a device that produces fresh water from seawater. It generally works through reverse osmosis, a very fine filtration technology capable of retaining salt and a large share of the impurities in the water. The result is desalinated water, usable as needed for drinking, technical uses or certain professional applications.

This category includes two types of solutions. The first is a portable desalinator, designed for mobile or occasional needs. Compact and easy to carry, it can be useful on a boat, during an expedition, in a remote location or in an emergency, when access to fresh water is limited. It lets you gain autonomy without installing a large fixed system.

The second is an industrial desalinator, intended for larger needs. It suits professionals, local authorities, remote sites, farms, marine applications or installations requiring regular fresh water production. Its capacity can be adapted to the volume of water required, making it a more complete solution for intensive or continuous use.

The choice between these two devices depends mainly on your situation. For a mobile, occasional or low-volume need, the portable model is generally the best fit. For larger daily production, a fixed installation and professional use, it is better to turn to an industrial solution sized to the flow rate required.

Before choosing your desalinator, it is important to consider several factors: the amount of water you want per day, the salinity of the water to be treated, the available space, the power supply, the frequency of use and the expected level of maintenance. These criteria help you select equipment that is truly suited to your use.

Whether your need is autonomy, mobility or fresh water production on a larger scale, our desalinators offer a practical solution for using seawater when access to fresh water is difficult or insufficient.

  • RO System Consumables

    RO System Consumables

Cartridges, filters, membranes, and maintenance kits

To keep your water quality high and your installation running properly, it is essential to regularly replace your RO system consumables.

Pre-filters, activated carbon cartridges, reverse osmosis membranes, or post-filters: each component plays a specific role in the filtration process.

    Why replace consumables?

    Preserve your RO system's performance

Over time, the filter elements become clogged with impurities and gradually lose efficiency. Replacing them preserves the filtration quality of the installation.

    • Maintain effective filtration
    • Protect the reverse osmosis membrane
    • Preserve the taste and quality of the water
    • Maintain the performance and flow rate of the unit

    The different RO system consumables

Each filtration stage has its role

    Sediment pre-filters

They trap particles in the water such as sand, rust, and suspended matter.

    Activated carbon filters

Activated carbon helps reduce chlorine and certain organic compounds before the water passes through the membrane.

    Reverse osmosis membranes

The core component of the RO system, the membrane provides extremely fine filtration of dissolved substances in the water.

    Post-filters and complementary cartridges

Placed after the membrane, they complete the water treatment or improve its taste, depending on the system.

When should you replace filters and membranes?

Intervals that depend on your installation

The service life of consumables depends in particular on water quality, your usage, and the RO system model. As a guideline:

    Pre-filters

    Approximately 6 to 12 months

    Combined cartridges

    Approximately 12 to 24 months

    Reverse osmosis membrane

    Approximately 2 to 4 years

These durations are approximate. Always follow the maintenance recommendations for your RO system model first.

    Cartridges, membranes, or complete kits?

Choose based on your maintenance needs

Individual cartridges: ideal for replacing only the filter that has reached the end of its life.

Membranes: replace when filtration performance declines or as recommended by the manufacturer.

Maintenance kits: a convenient solution to have the main consumables needed for periodic maintenance of your RO system.

RO systems: filtering tap water through reverse osmosis

A reverse osmosis system is a water filtration system that uses reverse osmosis technology. Its reverse osmosis membrane reduces a large proportion of impurities and produces water with a very low mineral content, free of the vast majority of residues, including PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) and other persistent chemical contaminants. On Josmose.fr, several models are available depending on your desired flow rate, available space and budget.

Which home RO system should you choose?

Our home RO systems are designed to filter water for drinking and cooking. Depending on your needs, you can choose a tank-based model, a direct-flow model or a reverse osmosis water dispenser. For example, the Mobilos RO water dispenser is easy to install and requires no complex connections. We also offer direct-flow RO systems such as the Mineros 2.0 and the Optimos

Filtering PFAS and micropollutants

Reverse osmosis reduces a large proportion of PFAS and many substances dissolved in water. Each home RO system is equipped with a membrane capable of filtering PFAS and other micropollutants, ensuring pure, healthy water. To maintain good performance and filtration quality, replacing the filters regularly is recommended. A maintenance kit contains all the necessary components, including the RO membrane.

How does reverse osmosis work?

Reverse osmosis is a filtration process used to effectively remove pollutants and PFAS from tap water. It involves forcing pressurized water through a very fine membrane. Some of the dissolved substances are trapped and then flushed away with the drain water, while the filtered water is directed to your faucet. This technology is also used in various sectors: horticulture, winemaking, professional kitchens, food processing and desalination. Depending on your needs, the RO water can then be remineralized.

Home, professional or industrial RO systems

For home use, your choice mainly depends on the number of users, desired flow rate, space requirements and volume of drain water. For greater needs, Josmose also offers professional RO systems and industrial RO systems suitable for high flow rates.

Benefits of an RO system

  • Effectively removes PFAS, chlorine, limescale and other chemical pollutants.
  • Cost-effective: fewer bottled water purchases, long-lasting performance.
  • Available for all uses: home, professional or industrial.
  • Easy to install and maintain with the supplied kits and membranes.

Choosing the best RO system for your water

Our models offer flow rates suited to every need: up to 180 L/h for home models and up to 12,000 L/h for industrial models. Choosing a quality RO system significantly reduces many contaminants in your water, including PFAS, while producing water suitable for everyday drinking.
