How to Install a Reverse Osmosis System
Once you have chosen your home reverse osmosis system, you need to connect it. Contrary to what you might think, you do not need to call a specialist. In most cases, your system will come with a guide detailing the different steps to follow to install it. Read it thoroughly to ensure your installation goes smoothly.
Instructions
Allow a little over an hour to install an under-sink RO system. Of course, it will take less time if a professional does the work. First, connect the system to the water supply. To do this, shut off the cold water supply to the mixer faucet. Then :
- Remove the screws from the mixer faucet's cold water connection hose beneath the sink
- Fit the inlet connector onto the cold water line using its pipe
- Attach the faucet hose to the connector, making sure the gasket is secure.
Once this is done, turn the threaded part of the water inlet valve. Generally, you will not need to make more than 10 turns in the tightening direction. Then connect the water inlet connector to the inlet valve. As you do this, make sure you feel some resistance.

Connect Your RO System
The next step is to connect your home RO system to the drain. To do this, you will need a drill and an HSS drill bit with a diameter between 6 and 12 mm. Drill a hole in the wastewater drain pipe beneath your sink. If possible, try to position it slightly above the trap. Then attach the square gasket supplied with the drain saddle over the hole you drilled. To avoid mistakes, use a small drill bit inserted into the hole as a guide.

The next step is to install the RO water tank valve. To do this, wrap the threads on top of the tank. Make 10 turns over the piece of Teflon and screw the plastic valve onto the tank. Do this by hand without applying much pressure, or you risk damaging the various components of your RO system installation.
To install the faucet, refer to our instructional video.
You can now install the RO system's pre-filters. Make sure the O-ring in each filter housing is correctly positioned. If this is difficult, you will need to loosen the accessory, neither too much nor too little! Then place the filters in their housings and attach them to the system without overtightening. Tightening excessively is unnecessary if you want the best possible seal. Simply follow the assembly order, and you are all set.
That is how to assemble your RO system in a few simple steps. If you run into difficulties or do not feel able to do it yourself, it is best to call a specialist.
