Maintaining Your Water Softener
|
To ensure your hard water treatment equipment lasts, the key is maintaining your water softener. Rest assured: this is not a complicated task; in most cases, it involves removing iron from and sanitizing the resin. You should also perform the necessary hardness tests. To help you do this, OJA has developed two simple options. |

1. The All-Inclusive Warranty
A technician visits your installation site annually to perform all routine checks and maintain your water softener.
Iron is removed from the resin, which is then sanitized, mechanical parts are checked and lubricated if necessary, and your water hardness is checked.
The all-inclusive warranty is an annual plan costing 129 € incl. VAT, including the technician's travel, service visit, consumables, and any parts replaced on your water softener. This plan is available only to customers in Nord/Pas de Calais who have chosen to have their water softener installed by our team.
For customers outside the region, or those who prefer to install their water softener themselves, we have designed option no. 2.
2. Assisted Water Softener Maintenance
When you order from www.josmose.fr, you receive free, unlimited telephone support. Our technicians guide you over the phone through the steps needed to maintain your water softener.
We simply provide you with a maintenance kit with instructions and videos detailing the steps to follow, along with the equipment needed to complete them.
You do not need any special tools other than the wrench supplied with your unit, because a water softener is very easy to take apart.
All the items needed to maintain your water softener are available on our website and accessible at any time.

Hardness Test The hardness test lets you check your water softener's effectiveness by checking hardness (TH), measured in °f (French degrees). Pour the specified volume of water (5, 10 or 20 ml depending on the test) into the plastic tube. Add the test solution drop by drop and stir regularly to observe the color change. The hardness equals the number of drops needed to change your solution from one color to another (the colors vary depending on the test).

Resin Cleaning Kit Pour 0.1 L of cleaning solution per liter of resin into your water softener. For example, if your water softener contains 14L of resin, pour 14 x 0.1 = 1.4 L of solution into your water softener's water tank. Then start a manual regeneration cycle on your water softener.

Water Softener Resin After 5 years of normal use of your water softener, replacing the resin is recommended. To do this, simply remove your water softener's valve using the supplied wrench and take the resin vessel out of the tank. Then empty the resin from the vessel and refill it with new resin. The resin is sold by the liter; simply order the number of liters of resin you need.

Your Water Softener's Valve The most important part of your water softener is the electromechanical valve. If it fails during the warranty period, we send you a new valve to install. The valve is designed for at least 10 years of use. And you can order it at any time from our website if it fails. Replacing it is very simple: remove the old valve (it is screwed onto the vessel) and screw on the new valve. You will then need to configure your valve's settings again.

Whether you choose our support or prefer to maintain your water softener yourself, your OJA water softener provides lasting protection from hard water.
