Aluminum in Water Doubles the Risk of Developing Alzheimer's

In the early 1970s, chemist and toxicologist Henri Pézerat took an interest in the material making up the ceiling of the chemistry laboratory where he worked, at université Jussieu in Paris.
It was asbestos !
It was after a quarter century of relentless campaigning that Henri Pézerat would persuade the French government to ban asbestos. Who can say how many deaths and illnesses were prevented thanks to this man's courage?
Asbestos was not Henri Pézerat's only battle. In 2000, he was the first to sound the alarm about the dangers caused by the Erika's fuel oil spill along the Breton coast.
A danger worse than asbestos
In 2004, he sounded another alarm, affecting even more people than asbestos: the indisputable link between aluminum levels in tap water and the proportion of Alzheimer's patients in the population drinking it.
Whether we like it or not, we all consume aluminum every day. What makes the difference is the accumulation of the doses consumed in the body, which concentrate in the bones… and the brain.
The more aluminum our drinking water contains, the faster we pollute our bodies.
Once again, the doctor met with nothing but ridicule from most of his colleagues. If aluminum were really dangerous to your health, surely we would have known about it long ago!
Yet the studies on which Henri Pézerat's report is based conclude that there is “ an increased risk of dementia or Alzheimer's disease, with a risk estimated between 1.5 and 2.5 for an aluminum concentration in water greater than 100 or 110 µg/liter ”.
In other words, the danger threshold is 0.1 mg/liter. Yet this code de santé publique set the threshold that it is “ preferable not to exceed ” at… 0.2 mg/liter !
The official recommendations are based on a value that, in absolute terms, quadruples the risk of developing Alzheimer's.
It is impossible to find water without aluminum these days : aluminum sulfate is used… by wastewater treatment plants !!! In some French cities, the threshold of 0.5 mg/liter of aluminum is sometimes reached !
It is a disgrace.
Sadly, this battle has lost its most tenacious soldier. Henri Pézerat died in 2009 at the age of 81.
Since then, resistance and the fight for the truth have been taking shape ; other scientists have taken over, starting with Dr Jean-Paul Curtay, the pioneer of nutritherapy in France.
Dr Curtay warns his readers about the persistent danger of water containing too much aluminum, and reviews the latest research on this issue in the special issue of Dossiers de Santé & Nutrition, “ Water – Staying Well Hydrated Without Poisoning Yourself ”, which we are publishing this month.
Dr Curtay does not stop there, however, because aluminum is only the tip of the iceberg of this public health problem.
Brace yourself.
Tap water, a cocktail of chemical medications
Did you know that an analysis of water from the Seine revealed high levels of tramadol and codeine, powerful painkillers ?
Mind you, I am talking about water analyzed not at the inlet, but at the outlet of the wastewater treatment plant !!!
That is not all. “ A study conducted by the Agence française de sécurité sanitaire de l’environnement et du travail (Afsset) shows that highly active anticancer molecules, presenting "a potential danger to human health and the environment", are present in "significant quantities" in hospital effluent, as well as downstream of the wastewater treatment plant that receives it.
Since then, other studies have regularly found antidepressants, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, anticancer drugs, and contrast agents used in medical imaging in waterways, in groundwater and, for some products, even in tap water and bottled water… [2] ”
The problem is not limited to France. It is worldwide. When you read the article “ Warning: Medications in Water ” in this special issue, Water – Staying Well Hydrated Without Poisoning Yourself, you will discover that the main reason for this pharmaceutical pollution is staggering : wastewater treatment plants are neither programmed nor equipped to “ clean ” the tons of water discharged by hospitals.
This irresponsibility has deadly consequences for the population. One of these consequences is the development of antibiotic resistance, meaning bacteria's resistance to antibiotics…
By indiscriminately discharging water polluted with antibiotics, we allow pathogenic bacteria to grow stronger before they even attack our health ! It is as if France had sent the plans for the Maginot Line to Germany with its compliments before World War II even began.
The result ? 13,600 deaths last year in France [3].
Where things start to become worrying is that traces of medications used to treat breast cancer and vasodilator medications have been found… in bottled water from famous brands that I cannot name here.
You will find the names of these bottled waters, along with the measures that need to be taken, in the article “ Warning: Medications in Water ”, in the special issue that Les Dossiers de Santé & Nutrition devotes to “ Water – Staying Well Hydrated Without Poisoning Yourself ”.
The essential health protection measures you will find in this exceptional issue go beyond the problems posed by aluminum and chemical medications alone.
What the “ official recommendations ” do not say
In France, whether water is fit to drink depends on specific standards.
These standards cover both the natural composition of water, such as sulfates or sodium, and undesirable substances, such as hydrocarbons or zinc, and especially toxic substances, such as arsenic, lead, pesticides, etc.
But there are two “ catches ”, and major ones at that.
The first is that many cities have “ exemptions ” allowing them to distribute water that exceeds these standards ! In total, two million French people have “ exceptional permission ” to drink water considered elsewhere to be unfit for consumption.
Who do they think they are fooling ?
The second catch, which affects the entire population this time, is that these standards are actually set too low.
A few examples :
- Chlorine should simply be banned outright. Chlorinated tap water is associated with an increased risk of bladder and colon cancers, as well as miscarriages in pregnant women.
- Arsenic, which, through its cumulative effects, increases the risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and skin, bladder, and lung cancers… and circulates at levels associated with several dozen deaths per year in the drinking water supply systems of 13 French departments.
- Pesticides, particularly PCBs (polychlorinated biphenyls), endocrine disruptors used extensively by Monsanto and now found at some 550 land sites in France, and in the waters of the Seine, Allier, Loire, Rhin, and Moselle. PCBs are reproductive toxicants that disrupt fertility, fetal and subsequent childhood development, and the cardiovascular system...
“ A study conducted in 2011 as part of the Plan National Nutrition Santé reveals that French people have higher PCB levels than Germans and levels 4 to 5 times higher than Americans ”, Dr Curtay states.
And we have not yet discussed the problems posed by copper, lead, or atrazine… You will find all this information in the article Is My Water Safe to Drink ? in the special issue of Dossiers de Santé & Nutrition devoted to water.
At this point in your reading, I understand that you may feel depressed, as I did myself when I discovered the scale of the problem while reading this explosive report.
However, this awareness is essential for things to start changing… beginning with our vigilance as consumers.
Above all, Dr Curtay identifies the solutions to prioritize so that water is no longer a danger to your health, but even becomes a positive contributor to your health.
