Water Disinfection

  • UV Lamps

    Water disinfection technology

UV radiation doesn't just kill vampires! Bacteria and viruses can't withstand it either. With these UV lamps, you can get rid of the few survivors just before the water reaches your faucet. This drinking water disinfection system is installed downstream of the reverse osmosis system.

UV lamps are an effective additional element to guarantee the purity of your drinking water.

    Models

There are 2 UV lamp models. Each has a different power rating so that you can choose the one that best suits your needs.

    Maintenance

The life of a bulb is about 1 year. The bulb is very easy to replace and can easily be found in stores for a few euros.

To replace the bulb, switch off your RO system and the UV system, then slide the plastic sleeve to access the glass tube that houses the bulb. It only takes 2 minutes!

Our Water Disinfection Solutions

For drinking water disinfection, there are many technologies that are both effective and high quality. Discover ozone water disinfection with the O3-CLEANER ozone generator, which can produce disinfecting water for washing machines and household cleaning. With no added chemicals, this device purifies water to 99.6%.

Drinking water disinfection can be achieved with UV rays generated by a lamp and delivered in measured doses. Bacteria and viruses cannot withstand these UV rays, and the water is disinfected!

How Do You Disinfect Your Water?

Disinfecting water means killing the pathogenic microorganisms present in it. While chlorination remains the best-known water treatment, other groundbreaking techniques are currently gaining popularity. These include ozone disinfection and UV radiation. Since opinions on these methods differ, here are a few clarifications.

Why Disinfect Drinking Water?

Sometimes a pathogenic microorganism is present at a level close to the drinking water limit. This means that if the temperature or pH changes, the germ can exceed the reference threshold and impair water quality. This is where drinking water disinfection is considered necessary.

Businesses therefore opt for UV radiation or ozone cleaning to purify drinking water. After this second treatment, you can be sure of the hygienic quality of your water.

What are effective techniques for disinfecting water?

Using a professional ozone generator is a fairly common practice in businesses. Where appropriate, the hygiene manager may recommend purification using UV radiation.

Water disinfection with ozone

Ozonated water refers to water that has been both disinfected and oxidized. This approach to water disinfection generally precedes the use of an activated carbon filter, which removes the remaining organic matter. This makes it possible to remove organic and inorganic substances, pesticides, unpleasant tastes and odors from drinking water. The drinking water ozonator also helps optimize water settling.

To disinfect water with an ozone disinfection machine, simply introduce ozone into the water to remove volatile organic compounds (VOCs). For a drinking water ozonator, Josmose offers you a choice of the O3 Cleaner, the metal ozone cannon and the stainless steel ozone cannon.

Disinfection using UV radiation

In addition to an ozone generator, you can also disinfect water with a sterilization box or a UV lamp. Both types of equipment are available from Josmose. Known for its bactericidal properties, UV radiation kills the pathogenic germs found in drinking water.

Simply place the UV lamp or box on the drinking water distribution pipe. UV radiation passes through the pipe wall and reaches the water coming from the source. When exposed to the lamp's light, bacteria and viruses are easily destroyed. You will then obtain water of the same nature as ozonated water.

Is water disinfection with UV or ozone risky?

A drinking water ozonator poses no danger to either its operator or the consumer. Ozone cleaning removes pollutants without attacking covalent and ionic bonds in the water. The ozone dose used to disinfect water is also far too low to affect health.

Like ozone disinfection, using a UV lamp to purify water does not lead to negative health effects. Compliant with current regulations, the drinking water disinfection equipment sold by Josmose is rated “safe.” Whether you use a professional ozone generator or a UV sterilization box alongside your budget RO system, you face absolutely no risk.
