Automatic Demineralizer for Ultrapure Water, 135 to 875 Liters
Demineralizers
Using a demineralizer: Producing ultrapure water.
First, keep in mind that this type of equipment is only useful when installed after a reverse osmosis system. Using it on unfiltered water would simply soften your water, but at a much higher cost than using a water softener.
A demineralizer captures the small ions that pass through RO membranes due to the high pressure inside an RO system, to produce ultrapure water (TDS close to 0PPM) that is nonconductive (zero conductivity). This type of water is primarily used in medical applications, but sometimes in industrial applications as well.
Why is this demineralizer called "automatic"?
Unlike mixed-bed demineralizers (several types of resin mixed in a single vessel), this model has two separate vessels: one containing cation exchange resin and the other containing anion exchange resin.
This difference is crucial to your initial investment and long-term operating costs! With a mixed-bed demineralizer, you have a single vessel, so the initial purchase costs less, but the resin cannot be regenerated. Regularly replacing your resin eventually costs more than the price difference for an automatic system equipped with two vessels and regeneration valves.
The cation exchange resin removes cations (Na+, Ca++, Mg++...) by releasing H+ ions, while the anion exchange resin removes anions (Cl-, SO4--, NO3--...) by releasing OH- ions, for which it has a lower affinity.
When a resin can no longer bind ions, it is considered saturated and must be regenerated. The H+ ions in the cation exchange resin are regenerated by countercurrent injection of hydrochloric acid, and the anion exchange resin is regenerated by injecting sodium hydroxide.
A complete range for all your needs
We offer 7 standard sizes for our automatic demineralizers.
| Model | Cation exchange resin volume (liters) |
Anion exchange resin volume (liters) |
