Introducing Our Range of Industrial Desalinators
These desalination systems were developed to produce high-quality purified water with continuous 24/7 operation.
These desalination systems are rugged and designed to withstand the harshest conditions in marine environments.
The equipment's design parameters can be adjusted to suit your needs and the available space.
The systems include a 316 stainless steel feed pump, a media filter (except models 5/6 and 10/12, which do not need one), a 5-micron filter cartridge and a reverse osmosis unit. Activated carbon, iron removal or antiscalant dosing systems are not included but can be added if needed.
The maximum salt concentration our desalination systems can treat is 38 g/l.
Caution : For the boat version, allow for a minimum water depth of 10m. The intake must be positioned 5m above the bottom and 5m below the water's surface. For the standalone desalinator, water must be drawn from a well so that the ground provides natural pre-filtration.
Technical Specifications of Our Systems
Here is the operating diagram for a COMPLETE version desalinator. The LAND version does not include the components at the bottom right (intake pump and sand filter)
.png)
Feed Pump - Boat Version Only
The desalinator's feed pump supplies water to the equipment at sufficient pressure to overcome pressure losses in the sand filter and micron filters.
· Horizontal multistage close-coupled pump made of AISI 316L chromium-nickel-molybdenum stainless steel.
· Compact, rugged construction with no protruding flange and a single pump-to-motor coupling with a support foot.
· One-piece pump casing, open on one side (barrel casing), with a front suction nozzle aligned with the pump shaft and a radial outlet on top.
Sand Filter - Boat Version Only
· Removes suspended particles larger than 50 microns, preventing rapid clogging of the micron filters.
· Consists of a gravel bed, a layer of coarse sand, anthracite, iron removal media and fine sand.
· Tank : made of FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic). Polypropylene interior.
· Automatic cleaning system. ABS valve with a controller to run the filter cleaning cycles.
· Operating pressure : 1.5 to 6 bar (150 - 600 kPa).
· Operating temperature : 5 to 40°C (41 - 104°F).
· Power supply : 24 V - 50/60 Hz.
Microfiltration
· Consists of two filter cartridges, each 20 inches long and 4.5 inches in diameter. Their purpose is to filter micron-sized particles from the water.
· Filtration rating is 20 microns for the first and 5 microns for the second.
· The inlet and outlet are 1 ½ inches in diameter.
· Prevents particles larger than 5 microns from entering the membranes.
· The housing is made of polypropylene for easy cartridge replacement.
. The cartridges are, of course, supplied with the equipment.
Conditioning Chemical Dosing
The dosing equipment consists of a diaphragm metering pump, a container of antiscalant and a 100-liter chemical storage tank.
Chemical dosing serves the following purposes :
· Inhibits all forms of scale, with particular effectiveness against calcium, barium and strontium carbonate and sulfate scale, as well as calcium fluoride scale. It does not, however, inhibit organic deposits.
· Also effective against iron, aluminum and silica deposits.
· Must be continuously dosed into the feed water, making the 100-liter tank essential.
· Approved for use in drinking water applications because it has virtually no effect on total organic carbon levels.
High-Pressure Pump
This is a TRIPLEX pump with CAT ceramic pistons.
· Three-piston design for uniform flow.
· Flexible motor-to-pump coupling.
· 316 stainless steel head designed for easy inspection and servicing.
· Seals cooled and lubricated by the pumped liquid, with double protection against leaks.
· Interchangeable suction and discharge valve assemblies.
· Optimal crankcase lubrication.
· The AISI 316 valves are hardened, and the seats have a high-quality finish to ensure a perfect seal.
· The rugged manifolds are also made of AISI 316, which is highly resistant to corrosion.
· The concentric, solid, high-density ceramic pistons are impregnated with graphite for long seal life.
· Servicing the pump's "wet" section requires no work on the crankcase section.
· Valve kits can be serviced without disconnecting the attached tubing.
· Water hammer dampener : absorbs potential pressure surges, extending equipment life by 40%. Reduces noise and vibration and increases efficiency. Made of steel with an anti-corrosion coating.
Reverse Osmosis Membranes
· Spiral-wound thin-film polyamide membranes, the most advanced technology ever developed for water filtration and the only effective technology for seawater in particular.
· High water purity, with salt removal exceeding 98.6%.
· Membranes designed for long life and easy cleaning (a service life of more than 3 years when cleaning requirements are met).
Membrane Housings
· Desalinator membrane housings made of a heat-cured epoxy resin matrix and fiberglass
reinforcement, a combination that provides optimal mechanical properties.
· Closures made from materials with proven corrosion resistance: aluminum
Hard-anodized materials, stainless steel and thermoplastics.
· Easy-to-replace assembly and excellent durability.
· Operating pressure: 1,000 psi (70 bars). Leak test at 1,500 psi (105 bar).
Instruments and Protective Features
· High-pressure gauges (0 to 100 bars). Indicate water pressure at the inlet and outlet of each component in the discharge circuit. Glycerin-filled and made of AISI 316 stainless steel for a long service life.
· Low-pressure gauges (0 to 6 bars). Indicate pressure in the circuit upstream of the pressurization system and in the product water outlet circuits. The gauges installed at the outlets show whether back pressure in these circuits is interfering with proper equipment operation. They are also glycerin-filled and made of AISI 316 stainless steel for a long service life.
· AISI 316L stainless steel low-pressure switches protect the equipment. They prevent the system from starting when there is no feed flow. The pressure switches' operating ranges are factory-set.
· High-pressure switches made of AISI 316L stainless steel. Prevent the system and equipment from operating above safe pressures. When this protection is triggered, the equipment must be reset. The pressure switches' operating ranges are factory-set.
· Flow meters measure outlet flow rates (product water and drain water).
· Product water conductivity meter. The probe is installed in the product water line, upstream of the valves, to continuously monitor product water quality.
When the product water does not meet the desired conductivity values, it is diverted to the non-drinking water outlet.
Control Panel
· IP54 metal cabinet. The wiring includes a numbered reference list for easier identification of each cable.
· Micro PLC with a backlit LCD display for :
o Equipment operation
o System status display
o Warning and alarm display
o Maintenance task indication
o Operating hour counter.
· "Run-Stop" button with an LED.
· Thermal protection for the high- and low-pressure pump motors.
· Electronic salinity meter automatically diverts product water away from the production line when it is not suitable for drinking, or directs it to the tank when one is present, using two solenoid valves.
· Dry contact for remote system alarm signaling.
Frame
· The AISI 304 stainless steel frame ensures a long equipment service life.
· Components are arranged for easy servicing and working access through the rear opening.
Connections
· All high-pressure fittings offer maximum corrosion resistance.
· The high-pressure circuit is made of SUPERDUPLEX stainless steel.
· The low-pressure circuit is made of AISI 316L stainless steel.
· All tubing and fittings downstream of the reverse osmosis membranes are food-grade.
Supply Requirements
. Power supply : 380V three-phase
. Inlet pressure : 1 to 6 bars
. Inlet water temperature : 10 to 30°C
. Equipment noise level : 80 to 90 dB
Maintenance
|
Filters and membranes must be replaced regularly. - Sand filter : regular manual maintenance and replacement every 5 years - Micron filters : replace every 6 months - Antiscalant : replenish as it is dosed - RO membranes : replace approximately every 3 years |
