OJA TDS Meter Water Tester
Water Testers
Your TDS water tester
TDS water tester description
TDS in water stands for Total Dissolved Solids. In other words, it measures the amount of particles other than water (H2O). This is expressed in PPM (parts per million) or mg/l. These particles include all types: minerals, bacteria, viruses, heavy metals, chlorine, and other organic and inorganic particles*.
You can find a complete explanation of water TDS on our blog.
You can also download the user manual

Standard
The standard for RO water ranges from 10 to 100ppm depending on the water source and the system used. For example, if a remineralization filter cartridge has been added downstream of the RO membrane, the water TDS may be higher. If the value exceeds 100PPM, this means the membrane is no longer effective enough: it is time to replace it.
In general, a high-quality, unclogged RO membrane reduces water TDS by a factor of 10, sometimes even more when you use a booster pump.
"I connected my RO system with a booster pump to my building's water supply, which is already filtered and softened. My water TDS dropped from an average of 170 PPM to 5 PPM. So I added a mineral filter cartridge to bring it above 10 PPM" Alexis, founder of josmose.fr
* agriculture and industry discharge all kinds of substances that turn up in our pipes a few years later. See the articles on the water situation in France and around the world on our blog:
Here is a partial list of what is found in water and what you can quantify with the TDS water tester
Please note that the TDS water tester measures the TOTAL amount of particles in your water. It cannot determine the precise amount of each impurity found in water. For that, we recommend having a water analysis performed.

mercury : damages our central nervous system chromium: can cause stomach ulcers and lung cancer lead: causes lead poisoning, attacks the brain and central nervous system, causing coma, seizures, and even death nitrates : cause anoxia (blocking oxygen delivery to cells, which is particularly dangerous for young children) pesticides: cause neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease and fertility problems zinc: causes stomach cramps, skin irritation, vomiting, nausea, and anemia at high doses aluminum: causes Alzheimer's disease, among other conditions, over the long term fluoride: powerful neurotoxin chlorine: affects the respiratory system and causes fluid retention in the lungs radon, uranium, polonium radioactive gases: cause genetic mutations medications: 70% of active molecules end up in our urine and pass through public filtration systems Other impurities: limescale, herbicides, salts, pesticides, drugs, bacteria, and viruses |
How do you use your TDS tester?
The TDS water tester has 3 buttons:
- ON/OFF to turn it on and off
- SHIFT to display the temperature in degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit
- HOLD to keep a reading on the screen
Our devices are calibrated before shipping. However, you can recalibrate them using the HOLD and TEMP buttons:
- press SHIFT for 5 seconds until the reading flashes
- press SHIFT to increase the reading or HOLD to decrease it
- press SHIFT for 5 seconds to confirm the calibration.
Our TDS water tester has an accuracy of + or - 3% and can measure values up to 10,000 PPM.
The battery is included in the TDS tester's case.
