Metals in Water - DIY Test
Water Testers
Test your water for metals
This bottle of liquid reagent lets you test your water for metals using a photometer from the eXact range (iDip, iDip 570 or Micro 20).
Please note, this test measures the presence of metals with a +2 valence (calcium, magnesium, strontium, barium, zinc and cadmium), but it is nonspecific: this means it can indicate the presence of one of these metals in your water, but cannot identify which one.
Test your water for metals with a photometer
Testing procedure with the iDip photometer

This reagent lets you measure metals in your water using the IDIP photometer. It is very simple to use:
1. Open the app on your mobile phone and turn on the photometer.
2. Add water to the tester's designated test cell
3. Place the strip in the water for 20 seconds
4. View the result directly on the photometer. The result is automatically saved to your phone.
This water testing system is fast, reliable, modern, expandable and comprehensive. It is THE most accessible system.
Testing procedure with the eXact Micro 20 photometer
Turn on the photometer, then press the SELECT button repeatedly to select test group 2. Within this group, press the MENU button repeatedly to select the Mt test (for metals).
To reduce the risk of cross-contamination, rinse the device's test cell at least 3 times with the water you want to test, then fill it completely with the same water.
Close the cell with the cover provided and press the ON/ZERO button. The cursor will move across the screen, then 0.00PPM will appear. Tilt the device slightly to remove a little water from the test cell so you can add the liquid reagent.
Remove the cell cover and add 2 drops of the supplied bottled reagent. Replace the cover.
Press the READ button. A 20-second countdown starts. During the countdown, invert the device several times. When the countdown ends, place the device flat.
The cursor will move across the screen while the test is performed, before displaying the result.
