Dow Chemical is one of the American chemical giants, founded in 1897 by a Canadian chemist named Herbert Henry Dow. The company was one of the first to develop reverse osmosis membranes in the 20th century and quickly established itself as the market leader with products of exceptional quality, despite high prices.
