Calculate Your Needs
How do you choose the resin volume?
Size your water softener in 4 steps
1. Estimate your daily water needs
Simply take your bills for the year, add up the billed water volumes and divide by the number of days you were at home.
Reference point: average water consumption in France is around 150 liters per day per person.
2. Decide on the volume between regenerations
For example, you live with your partner, so you use about 300 liters of water per day.
If your goal is to regenerate the resin in your Ideal every 7 days on average, that gives you 2,100 liters.
3. Measure your water hardness
Tests are available as strips or a liquid at any home improvement store.
4. Calculate your resin needs
Calculation formula
Resin volume = Volume between regenerations × TH / 5,000

Installation & Maintenance
Installation
We recommend having your Harmony water softener installed by a qualified professional to ensure compliance with technical and safety standards. The unit must be connected to a drinking water supply that meets applicable standards, ideally with a pressure between 0.1 and 0.4 MPa. If the pressure is too low or too high, a pressure reducer or a pressure booster must be added.
Installation also requires a protected electrical outlet less than 1.5 meters away and a dry location protected from moisture and direct sunlight. Grounding is essential to ensure electrical safety. The drain hose must be securely attached to prevent backflow.
Maintenance
To ensure quality water and extend the unit's service life, regular maintenance is essential. This includes:
- Checking and refilling the salt tank
- Checking the indicator lights that show filter life
- Replacing the filters according to the manufacturer's recommendations
- Cleaning internal components with a dry cloth (without harsh solvents)
If the unit will be unused for an extended period, we recommend closing the ball valve and disconnecting the power supply. During freezing conditions, you must drain the unit completely to prevent cracking.
It is also important to check for leaks in the PE tubing and fittings, especially after two years of use.
Finally, comprehensive annual maintenance by a technician is strongly recommended, including water quality testing, cleaning, inspection of sensitive parts and replacement of the reverse osmosis membrane if needed.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about your water softener
How can you tell if your water is too hard?
Water is considered "hard" when it contains a high concentration of minerals, mainly calcium and magnesium. Here are several ways to check your water hardness:
- Visible signs in your home: limescale deposits, white spots on your dishes after washing, rapid scale buildup in your household appliances
- Testing water hardness: Choose a drop-count test kit , or ask your water supplier directly.
Your water is: very soft (between 0 and 7 °f), soft (between 7 and 15 °f), moderately hard (between 15 and 30 °f), hard (between 30 and 40 °f), very hard (+40 °f)
Can you adjust your water hardness to your preferences?
The hardness can be adjusted during installation, but you will not be able to adjust this setting manually afterward. The water softener automatically optimizes and adjusts the amount of salt needed to soften your water.
What do you receive with your Water Softener?
- A salt tank
- An installation and operation manual
- A connection kit (depending on the model, it may include flexible hoses, fittings and an overflow trap)
What should you do if your water softener stops working properly?
- If you notice a problem with your water softener's operation, we recommend first contacting us by email or phone so we can try to resolve your issue remotely.
- If your problem persists despite our remote assistance, we will ask you to send it back so we can run tests at our facility and identify the fault.
- If we find and fix the problem, we will send it back as soon as possible so you receive it as quickly as possible.
- If we cannot resolve the fault, we commit to sending you a new model if your product is still under warranty. As a reminder, your water softener purchase includes the Josmose warranty, which covers you for 5 years.
How long does a regeneration cycle last?
For this model, regeneration takes approximately 2 hours. However, thanks to its bypass valve, your water softener can treat your water continuously.
Can a water softener damage your plumbing?
On the contrary! A water softener helps protect it. By reducing limescale buildup in pipes, it prevents deposits that can cause blockages and reduce water flow.
