What Does an RO System Fitting Do?

For a reverse osmosis system to work properly, its many parts must be connected correctly. That is the whole purpose of fittings, also called quick-connect fittings for RO systems. They come in several shapes and handle different types of connections.

The sections below explain more about the role of an RO system fitting and why fittings matter for perfectly filtered water.

The RO system fitting connects the water supply line

Whether or not it is a home RO system, you will always need a fitting for the unit to work efficiently and economically and to deliver quality reverse osmosis water. An RO system fitting serves several functions and can be installed in various parts of the unit.

Among other things, this RO system accessory connects the water supply line of the RO system. It can do this thanks to its design, which allows flexible tubing to be connected.

A part that handles drain discharge

Just as with the water supply, the RO system fitting also carries unused water to the drain by connecting to the drain line with a drain saddle clamp. When the fitting is properly connected to the drain line, it helps channel wastewater to the drain and prevents possible leaks. This ensures trouble-free use of your RO system.

The RO system fitting connects the tubing and the faucet

The installation of the RO system faucet requires a fitting. Once you have decided where to install the faucet, the fitting lets you connect it to the tube linked to the reverse osmosis system. For everything to work properly, be careful not to overtighten it.

Besides faucet installation, an RO system fitting also connects all the tubes that make up the system and secures every connection. Push-in fittings provide a quick connection for this. For each connection, simply make sure the ends of your tubes sit properly against the end of your fitting to keep the system watertight.
