Overview of sodium hypochlorite 15% 

Sodium hypochlorite 15% is suitable for disinfecting drinking water or water that comes into contact with food.

Sodium hypochlorite is a TP5 disinfectant for controlling microbiological growth in tanks, pipes, showers, faucets and other water lines for human consumption. 

We use it particularly upstream of an industrial RO system when the water to be treated contains many bacteria because, although these are filtered at 0% by reverse osmosis membranes, they can grow and clog the membrane pores when the machine is not running. 

Other applications 

This product treats water in cooling towers, evaporative condensers, humidification equipment, ornamental fountains, sprinkler irrigation systems, fire protection systems, whirlpool baths and outdoor mist cooling equipment.

Sodium hypochlorite 15% has the physical appearance of a yellowish liquid.

- During treatment : 

          1. Hand protection : wear protective gloves 

          2. Eye protection : wear safety glasses 

          3. Skin protection : use a chemical-resistant apron 

          4. Respiratory protection : wear a filtering mask to protect against gases and particles

Use and installation information 

Product instructions for drinking water treatment 

- Dilute in the water within the circuit. 

- The product should preferably be dosed using a dosing pump proportional to the flow rate of the water to be treated or controlled by a measuring device. 

- The required dose depends on the specific chlorine demand of the water to be treated. For continuous water disinfection, a free chlorine level of 0.2 to 1.0 ppm is recommended. 

- The product is applied as a shock dose, at intervals depending on the system’s half-life. The biocide levels recommended by Adiquimica are those that must be reached for proper biological control.  

- Avoid contact between the concentrated product and acids or oxidizing or reducing substances.
