Role of the RO membrane
The RO membrane is made of TFC (Thin-Film Composite) polyamide and represents the most advanced stage of water filtration. It removes heavy metals, bacteria, and viruses. The pores in an RO membrane are so small that they only allow water molecules (H2O) to pass through. The 2 pre-filters are there solely to make the membrane's job easier by trapping larger particles. This helps extend its life.

Capacity
The 400GPD membrane is intended exclusively for use in a direct-flow RO system with a bayonet system, such as our UltimOs.
Maintenance
An RO membrane should be replaced every two years on average. Replacement takes 5 seconds, timed by the clock.
