Overview
Suspended solids (SS) filtration
Turbidex filters are designed to capture suspended particles in water. Their effectiveness depends in particular on the incoming water quality, suspended solids load, filtration velocity, and filter sizing.
For water with a high solids load or specific characteristics, we recommend determining the amount of SS and the types of particles present before choosing your model.
A water analysis helps determine the most suitable configuration and filter media more precisely.

Maintenance and backwashing
The filter media does not need regular replacement. Particles captured in the filter are flushed out through backwashing.
Automatic backwashing
The filters are equipped with an automatic timer-controlled valve. Backwash cycles can be programmed to suit your operating conditions: daily, every other day, once a week, etc.
Backwash frequency depends primarily on the incoming water quality, the amount of suspended solids, and the level of filter fouling.
The filter media is replaced only after several years of operation, when wear or a loss of performance is observed. Its service life therefore depends directly on operating conditions and water quality.
Installation and connections
Filter sizing depends on your desired flow rate and the quality of the water to be treated.
- An inlet for the water to be treated
- A filtered water outlet
- A drain for backwash water
- A power supply for the automatic valve
- A connection suited to your model: 1" on TM67 models and 2" on TM75 models
How do you choose your Turbidex filter?
To determine the right model for your installation, it helps to know:
- The flow rate of the water to be treated
- The amount of suspended solids (SS)
- The types of particles present
- The overall incoming water quality
For professional or industrial applications, or water with a high solids load, we recommend sending us a water analysis along with your desired flow rate so we can check the system sizing.
