Industrial sand filter overview
This industrial sand filter features automatic filtration functions and automatic cleaning valves.
Special filters are integrated to ensure the removal of suspended particles from the water.
The properties of flint and anthracite improve filtration capacity. Other materials can also be added.
Suspended solids (SS) filtration
The flint / anthracite filter is primarily designed to capture suspended solids (SS) in the water. Its effectiveness depends in particular on the particle size of the filter media, filtration velocity, the amount of suspended solids, and the quality of the incoming water.
Before sizing a system to treat heavily contaminated water, we recommend determining the suspended solids concentration and the types of particles present in the water.
The Noryl valves operate at temperatures ranging from 4°C to 40°C.
The unit is connected to a 230V - 12V, 50Hz power supply.
There is no water bypass.
Filter maintenance and backwashing
Flint and anthracite are not consumables that need frequent replacement. Materials captured during filtration are removed by backwashing the filter media.
Automatic cleaning
The filters are equipped with an automatic timer-controlled valve. Backwash cycles can be programmed according to operating conditions: for example, every day, every other day, or once a week.
The optimal frequency depends on incoming water quality, suspended solids concentration, and the level of filter fouling.
Filter media replacement is generally needed only after several years of operation, when wear or a loss of performance is observed. Its service life therefore depends directly on water quality and operating conditions.
Installation and connections
The connection depends on the flow rate to be treated and the selected model. The range includes equipment with 1", 2" or 3" connections.
- An inlet for the water to be treated
- A filtered water outlet
- A drain for backwash water
- A power supply for the automatic valve
- A connection sized for the flow rate of your selected model
How do you size your industrial sand filter?
Choosing an industrial filter depends on more than flow rate alone. To determine the right configuration, it helps to know:
- The flow rate of the water to be treated
- The suspended solids (SS) concentration
- The types of particles present
- The overall quality of the incoming water
- The system's operating conditions
For heavily contaminated water, industrial water, or water from a specific process, we recommend sending us a water analysis along with your desired flow rate so we can determine the most suitable sizing and filter media.
